Keencore Atelier

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between flexible and traditional sealing wax?
Flexible wax includes a small amount of polymer, making it less likely to crack during mailing. Traditional wax has a classic brittle snap and is best for hand-delivered pieces. Keencore Atelier offers both; check each product’s “Use” tag.
How do I make my first wax seal?
Melt two small beads in a spoon over low heat until fluid, pour onto the paper, count to three, then press the stamp with steady, even pressure for 10 seconds. Lift straight up. Practice on scrap paper first.
How should I clean my melting spoon and brass stamp?
While warm (not hot), wipe the spoon with a lint-free cloth. For brass, allow it to cool, then use a soft cloth—avoid abrasives. A tiny dab of mineral oil preserves the finish.
Can I mail envelopes sealed with wax?
Yes, with flexible wax and additional outer protection. Many clients place seals on inner envelopes or use clear stickers over the seal. Consult your local postal service for machine-handling rules.
What if the wax overheats and bubbles?
Remove heat and wait 20–30 seconds. Stir gently to cool the mixture. Bubbles indicate too much heat; aim for a slow, even melt.
Can I mix wax colors?
Absolutely. Blend beads to create marbling or custom tones. Warm gently and stir minimally to preserve striations if you prefer a marbled effect.
What stamp size should I choose?
For most stationery, 25–30 mm is balanced. Larger seals (35–40 mm) suit packaging and invitations. Our product pages list recommended wax volume per size.
Are open flames required? Are there safer options?
You can use tea lights with a spoon, but our electric furnace provides stable heat without open flame—ideal for workshops and events.
